With the forthcoming elections due to take place in Southern Sudan on 9 January, more than 300,000 refugees have been forced back to their homeland – to no shelter, water or food.
George Clooney has visited the border of Northern and Southern Sudan many times over the past years to get behind the need for action to assist these refugees and ensure they are safe.
Clooney said “If you knew a tsunami or Katrina or a Haiti earthquake was coming, what would you do to save people?”
Whilst we all prepare for our Christmas festivities, two Australian DARTs (Disaster Aid Response Teams) are delivering our aid in the form of our Family Survival Packs to allow the returning refugees some dignity and shelter from the harsh elements.
Since 2003, more than three million people have been displaced.
